This morning we have made the difficult decision to cancel all remaining performances of As You Like It (The Shakesbeer Sessions). We feel we have a social responsibility to practice social distancing to assist with limiting the spreading of the disease, and to put the safety of everyone involved first.
This was an extremely difficult decision for us to make. It is disappointing for our actors, our audiences, and crucially, our beloved venues.
The spaces we play in are some of the best pubs in Sydney, and they are really hurting right now. We send our solidarity and support to them, and to the staff who manage and work behind the bars, clear the glasses, deliver the food and who have been such a big part in helping us make these shows happen.
It is hard to know right now when we’ll get out the other side of this tough time, but as soon as we do, we will be doing all we can to support these venues, and helping them bring people back through the door. It’s a double whammy for both arts and hospitality, and we are a part of both industries.
We thank you for your understanding in what is a particularly difficult time for the arts, especially independent theatre companies. All purchased tickets for our remaining shows will be refunded in full.
